A platter is a strange shaped plate for serving or sharing food. It was originally named the splatter after numerous attempts to overload regular plates had ended in disaster. At that time it was thought that the letter S was evil (based on its shape being similar to a biblical serpent) so the S was uttered only in hushed tones and eventually forgotten. In its contemporary incarnation the platter is a party favourite for those big weird green grapes from the USA or an ostentatious charcuterie (pronounced: Char-coot-a-ree).

Stoneware 1220 degrees Celsius. May spark and explode in a microwave because it's full of iron bearing rocks. May bully other crockery if left unsupervised in a cupboard environment. Possibly Incontinent. Hand wash. Made in New Zealand. Stamped STEER like the brand on a colt's arse.
